Volleyball Scholarships 101

NCAA – Division 1
Women – Up to 12 full scholarships per team. A program may not fully fund all 12 (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
Men – Up to 4.5 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare). A program may not fully fund all 4.5 (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
Average team size: Women – 15 players; Men – 20 players.
NCAA-Division II
Women – Up to 8 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare). A program may not fully fund all 8 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
Men – Up to 4.5 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare). A program may not fully fund all 4.5 (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
Average team size: Women – 16 players; Men – 19 players.
NCAA – Division III
Division III programs cannot award athletic-based aid.
Must rely on academic scholarships or other non-athletic based sources of funding.
Average team size: Women – 15 players; Men – 14 players.
NAIA

Average team size: 12 players.
