NCAA – Division 1
- Men – Up to 13 full scholarships per team. A program may not fully fund all 13 scholarships(i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
- Women – Up to 15 full scholarships per team. A program may not fully fund all 15 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
- Average team size: Men – 15 players; Women – 16 players.
NCAA-Division II
- Men – Up to 10 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare). A program may not fully fund all 10 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
- Women – Up to 10 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare). A program may not fully fund all 10 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
- Average team size: Men – 17 players; Women – 15 players.
NCAA – Division III
- Division III programs cannot award athletic-based aid.
- Must rely on academic scholarships or other non-athletic based sources of funding.
- Average team size: Men – 18 players; Women – 15 players.
NAIA I
- Men – Up to 11 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare). A program may not fully fund all 11 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
- Women – Up to 11 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare). A program may not fully fund all 11 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
- Average team size: Men – 18 players; Women – 16 players.
NAIA II
- Men – Up to 6 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare). A program may not fully fund all 6 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
- Women – Up to 6 full scholarships per team; partial scholarships may be awarded (i.e., full rides are rare). A program may not fully fund all 6 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
- Average team size: Men – 19 players; Women – 17 players.
NJCAA – Junior College (JUCO)
- Men – Up to 15 full scholarships per team. A program may not fully fund all 15 scholarships(i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
- Women – Up to 15 full scholarships per team. A program may not fully fund all 15 scholarships (i.e., leave some scholarships unused due to lack of funding).
- Average team size: Men – 15 players; Women – 13 players.
